How to Draw a Cat

Draw a circle in the top half of your paper. Press lightly so you can erase it later. Then draw a straight line down the middle and another line across the middle. These lines help you place the face.

Draw two triangles on top of the circle, one on the left and one on the right. Round the tips a little so they look soft. Draw a smaller triangle inside each ear.

Place the eyes on the line that goes across the middle, with a good gap between them. Draw two big ovals and fill most of each one in, leaving a tiny white dot for shine. Draw a small upside down triangle for the nose, just below where the two lines meet.

From the bottom of the nose, draw a short line down. Then draw two small curves from the end of that line, like a sideways letter W. Add three long whiskers on each side of the face.

Below the head, draw a pear shape that is wider at the bottom. This is the body. Add two long ovals in front for the front legs, and a rounded bump on the side for the back leg.

Draw small rounded paws at the bottom of the front legs. Then draw a long curved tail that starts behind the body and wraps around the front. Make the tail thicker at the base and thinner at the tip.

Erase the guide lines. Go over the final lines with a darker pencil or pen. Add short little strokes along the cheeks, chest and tail to look like fur. You can also add stripes on the head, back and tail.
