How to Cold Brew Coffee at Home
Smoother and less acidic than iced coffee, and it keeps in the fridge for up to two weeks.
⏱ 12 hrDifficulty: Easy
What you'll need
- Coarse-ground coffee
- Cold filtered water
- Large jar
- Fine strainer or cheesecloth
- 01
Combine coffee and water
Use a 1:4 ratio by weight — about 100g coarse-ground coffee to 400g cold water for a concentrate. Stir gently so every ground gets wet.
- 02
Steep
Cover and leave at room temperature or in the fridge for 12–18 hours. Longer steeping gives a stronger, slightly more bitter concentrate.
- 03
Strain
Pour through a fine strainer lined with cheesecloth into a clean jar. Strain twice if you want a clearer concentrate.
- 04
Dilute and serve
Mix the concentrate with water or milk, roughly 1:1, over ice. Adjust to taste — concentrate keeps refrigerated for up to two weeks.
